About Soshu Shintaku
Shintaku Soshu, a native of Wakayama Japan, explains that in order to study the depths of martial arts concepts, it is important for practitioners to become well-rounded in the martial art way.
While physical patterns are easier to pass on, grasping deeper concepts, strategy and non-aggressive ideas require an additional focused study. Additionally, using supplemental study enriches comprehension - the influences of Japanese philosophy and culture, for example. By developing mentally and physically, practitioners gain a well-rounded, peaceful approach to protection arts.
With over 50 years of study, Soshu developed the art of Ten Shin Ichi Ryu - a peaceful Japanese martial art. Students learn:
-
Open hand and grappling techniques
-
Japanese language and shodo (brush writing)
-
Traditional Japanese weaponry with a focus on Iaido (sword) and bo staff
-
Japanese philosophy, cultural and historical influences
